How to Do Affiliate Marketing
If there’s one thing I’m good at it is helping people make money from their passion. Over the last two and a half years, my passion has been affiliate marketing (also known as “PPC for short”!) It’s an amazing industry that can be very profitable and you can get started right away with little or no experience!
And if you are wondering, how do you start affiliate marketing? Or how to start affiliate marketing and how to do affiliate marketing successfully? Well, let me break down three tips that helped me learn all of this on my own while running my first blog…
First Tip: Use A Niche Name That Doesn’t Repeat Yourself
In my day job as a blogger and content marketer, I have many niches. Some of them aren’t relevant anymore, but some of them are very popular niche niches for beginners. So, what’s a beginner using when they want to build an audience in these new niche markets? Simple! They look like something generic and easy-to-use. For example, here’s a list of different categories I find interesting (some of which were completely irrelevant back then):
- Travel Blogger
- Personal finance blog
- Diet and nutrition advice
- Health and fitness blogs
- Coffee and tea reviews
- Cooking/baking tutorials and home improvement ideas
The list goes on. And sometimes it gets tiring trying to research everything! As someone who really loves blogging and writing and trying to sell anything out there, I’ve become pretty well versed in online content, so instead of just throwing random keywords around like ‘how to create a killer landing page,’ let’s actually take our time and use more practical words that actually match your post to help us find visitors in those new markets.
Second Tip: Create Content In Your Niche
I’m sure by now everyone has heard about The 7 habits of Highly Effective People. Many people refer to this book as an inspirational one to follow and most have read it before, but most writers don’t actually know how to implement it in real life. And, the reason this tip works is because most people think making a habit will happen overnight. But, it doesn’t happen overnight! If you want to understand why things don’t work overnight just go read John Wooden! This guy was great at building his business and getting into college and he said the following:
“There is no such thing as an automatic method to success. You have to keep going till you find the right motivation to do the right thing in the right way. Even though we often call ourselves successful people, we never have any idea where we are headed. We can always see that what other people are saying, doing, and thinking is different than ours.”
What does that mean? First off, I don’t think anyone wants to hear that because it sounds harsh. However, this means that you need to constantly try to put yourself in other people’s shoes and ask yourself certain questions as an entrepreneur, coach, consultant, etc. How would they succeed without knowing this information? What would have happened if X had done X? Would they still be able to achieve their goals? Why? Because the reason you need to focus on this type of stuff is because the people who need it are willing to pay money!
Third Thing I Learned From An Internet Entrepreneur
This may sound kind of strange, but the fact I learned this from someone who went through several failures shows how important it is not to depend on luck. Sometimes one bad hire (in recruiting) leads to another, so having a solid foundation of knowledge with common, proven techniques and practices is vital if you really want to move forward with your business or personal projects. When I decided to quit a full-time job full-time, I was lucky enough to land a few internships that lead me directly towards coaching clients online through a PPC service called WordStream.
WordStream was perfect for me because I could spend free time on the weekends working on projects after school with friends. It also allowed me to learn even more about search engine optimization so I knew exactly how to apply SEO and get traffic to my blog content and website. By starting early, I built up a substantial amount of knowledge about digital marketing, which made my transition as an online entrepreneur easier. Having a solid foundation like that gave me access to tools that lead me to great opportunities to grow my website.
Conclusion
Nowadays, it’s possible to do internet entrepreneurship because the world is changing faster than ever before. Digital marketing is increasingly becoming mainstream, meaning anybody who has a smartphone in their pocket can be a freelance writer and marketer. There’s plenty of room for everybody to express themselves through blog posts, articles, infographics, videos, podcasts, white papers, video courses, and eBooks. Every single person regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity and culture can find a place on every platform they choose because each platform is available on social media! Now is the best time EVER to embark on an internet entrepreneurial journey because so many factors contribute to being successful.
When you open a WordPress site your first step to building an audience on your website is to install WordPress. Once you install WordPress, you should begin creating content that includes your link and include it within your web pages and profiles. Be consistent with your language so that readers can easily recognize your link! If your website isn’t growing the way you hoped, consider hiring professionals to assist you with website development and growth. Hire marketers to grow your business. Find bloggers, influencers, copywriters on Google AdWords and Facebook to earn passive income via Google ads and Amazon’s affiliate program. Promote your services and products online and offline via email promotion and social media advertising. Take advantage of local events, trade shows, festivals and conferences. Build partnerships and collaborations with brands and individuals in your niche. Invest in new technology to support your growth and expand geographically. Finally, remember that there are many ways to turn a profit from your online business, some easier than others, such as dropshipping, affiliate marketing, selling books, etc. The bottom line is choosing a path that works best for you because each path has its pros and cons. Ultimately, how much money you generate matters the most because you will only make as much money as money is coming your way. So, it all comes down to finding your niche and being consistent with it.
